1. Objectives and expected results
Specially, development of manual and tutorial on setting up, managing and authoring for WWW using HTML and other hypermedia/multimedia technologies.
including presentations and hand-out materials development.
2. Training on Internet and Information Technologies
Successful implementation of Global Information Infrastructure (GII) elements in Ukraine and its future sustainability requires a special concern about professional Networking Information Technologies Education and concurrent Training and User Support activity, which will contribute to the solving problem of preparing workforce/specialists for socially important area of academic, industry and business activity in the country.
There are not regular training and educational activities in Ukraine oriented on Internet and Networking Information Technologies promotion and User Support. Such work is conducted in the frame of different international programs and by some Internet Service Providers for their users. Some short courses on Internet tools is studied in many universities.
Pilot educational course on Networking Information Technologies and Services was started by workers of VRC-1 "Multimedia" at Computer Aided design Department in KPI. The specialists will be able to implement widely modern computer communications technologies and Internet Information services for organizational/corporation needs and re-engineering business information process in companies.
Important role in general promotion of Internet technologies belongs to user training and training material development. There is a good international practice to establish national Internet training material base that is free for distribution and placed on one or more regional Internet servers.
The best example of such activity is Network Training Material Project at University of Newcastle in the frame of which special WWW server of training materials "Internet for Everyone" was established (http://mailbase.ac.uk/cgi-bin/) that allow free TrainMat retrieval and interactive remote self-training including questionnaires and self-testing. The experience was approved by IETF and TERENA Workgroup on Internet Services and Users Support (ISUS). The creation of similar national training materials base is appreciated.
Special presentation materials placed for public distribution at WWW and/or Anonymous FTP Servers will increase community awareness in Internet and modern Information Technologies dissemination in Ukraine.
